Kari Stieglitz Black

Artist Biography
 
Kari Stieglitz Black has a B.S Ed. from Ball State University, a BFA from Indiana University,  and is completing her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  
Kari is an adjunct professor of ceramics at Bethel University and a ceramics instructor at the South Bend Museum of Art where she is a member of the Board of Directors.  She is also serving on the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Snite Museum, University of Notre Dame.
She is President of the Northern Indiana Artists.

Her ceramic art is concerned with the sculptural qualities of both functional and aesthetic pieces; whether wheel thrown, hand built, or a combination of the two.  Her glazes have painterly qualities that reflect her interest and practice in oil, acrylic and pastel painting.
She has exhibited throughout the area in juried competitions including the Midwest Museum of Art Juried Regional, Michiana Annual Art Competition, the Hoosier Salon Annual Exhibition, and Indiana Artists Club.
